About PC Setup Check
PC Setup Check is an independent project built to give people fast, private hardware tests that run entirely in the browser — nothing recorded, nothing uploaded. It's maintained by a developer who got tired of dated, ad-choked testing sites: pages that make you scroll past three banners to find the start button, guides that still reference Windows Vista, and tools that quietly route your microphone through someone else's server.
Checking whether your mic works shouldn't require downloading anything, creating an account, or trusting a stranger with your audio. Every tool here uses your browser's own standard APIs, starts in one click, and tells you plainly whether your hardware passed.
The principles
- Local only. Audio, keystrokes, clicks — nothing leaves your device, ever. There is no server that could receive them.
- Instant. Each page is a fraction of the size of a typical news article, and the test is above the fold.
- Honest verdicts. Every test ends in a clear pass/fail line with real numbers, and you can copy it anywhere.
- Current fixes. Troubleshooting covers Windows 11 and current macOS — not settings screens from 2009.
Found a bug or want a new test? Get in touch — mail goes straight to the developer, and reports with a copied result line get fixed fastest.
