PC Setup Check is built and maintained by Keon, a front-end developer.

The site exists because checking whether your microphone works shouldn't require downloading anything, creating an account, or scrolling past three ads to find the start button. Every tool here runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, starts in one click, and tells you plainly whether your hardware passed.

The principles

• Local only. Audio, keystrokes, clicks — nothing leaves your device, ever.
• Instant. Each page is a fraction of the size of a typical news article and the test is above the fold.
• Honest verdicts. Every test ends in a clear pass/fail line with real numbers, and you can copy it anywhere.
• Current fixes. Troubleshooting sections cover Windows 11 and current macOS — not settings screens from 2009.
